Beluga Whale

Beluga whales are magnificent creatures, renowned for their unique range of vocal sounds (clicks, whistles and chirps) and pure white colouring when they reach adulthood, helping them to camouflage against the ice. Unlike most whales, they do not have a dorsal fin and have a flexible neck allowing them to turn their heads. When spotted, you’ll most likely see them in pods. They use echolocation to navigate icy waters around the Arctic, where they’ll feed on fish, crustaceans and worms. During the summer, they’re most likely to be seen throughout parts of Svalbard.
