Minke Whale

Minke whales are the most frequently sighted of their species around the British coast on expedition cruises, particularly around Scottish waters. The Hebrides are a hotspot for minke activity around the Inner Hebrides, Outer Hebrides and Moray Firth. These whales are much smaller than others of their kind like humpbacks and almost have a larger dolphin-like shape with a curved back and dorsal fin. The warmer months of the summer create nutrient-rich waters filled with plankton and fish which attracts the whales to the region to feed.
